We feel pretty fortunate to have Death and Saxes joining us every third Thursday of the month. They are extremely talented jazz musicians and totally captivating and you can see them for free at Lúpulo! Their next show is this Thursday at 6:00 so grab a friend and head on over!

Redwood, cedar, oak, elm, ash, or sequoia?

Redwood: This 33 month barrel aged English Barleywine boasts deep, interwoven layers of oak barrel, rich carmel, dried fruits, charred wood, aged leather, holiday spices, cocoa powder, sweet tobacco, and rum soaked raisins. As this English-style Barleywine warms, it reveals gentle notes of caramelized honey and dried dates.

Cedar: A blend of 33 month old barrel aged English Barleywine. Extended aging in Buffalo Trace, Heaven Hill, and Willet Rye barrels has coaxed out complex layers of dried dark fruit, caramel, fresh leather, warming spices, figgy pudding, oak char, cocoa powder, and demerara sugar from this mahogany liquid.

Oak: A blend of 29 month old American double stout aged in Buffalo Trace, Heaven Hill, and Willet rye barrels. These barrels were blended to showcase rich, roasted layers of coffee, chocolate, caramel, charred oak, bourbon, and roasted nuts. Beer aged with time and patience.

Elm: A blend of 33 month old barrel aged English Barleywine. After resting in Buffalo Trace, Heaven Hill, and Willet Rye barrels we added roasted golden figs and Ecuadorian vanilla caviar. These additions unlocked lively fruity tones and deep vanilla layers within an already complex ale.

Ash: A blend of 29 month old American double stout aged in Buffalo Trace, Heaven Hill, and Willet rye barrels, conditioned on vanilla beans from Madagascar, Guatemala, Costa Rica, and Comoros, Amish maple syrup, and three species of cinnamon. Bold notes of toasted marshmallow, roasted pecans, cinnamon, and maple-syrup drenched French toast pour from this luscious barrel aged pastry stout.

Sequoia: This 29 month barrel aged American double stout delivers massive waves of oaky bourbon and rye, layered with notes of rich chocolate, freshly turned caramel, stiff toffee, roasted nuts, dark coffee, and complex vanilla. As this stout warms, it reveals its age and maturity, letting hints of dried dark fruits and toasted marshmallow flow from this oily liquid.

On draft we’ll have their Keller Pils, Stratic Noise Hazy IPA, and Ornamental Swords imperial stout.

As usual @redwood.records.ca will be bringing in the tunes with a special collaborative set between Jared and Brad.
